EXTINCTION

EXTINCTION

3200 left! There are only 3200 left in the world. The koala bear of Australia is endangered, Elephants are endangered, Lions are endangered, and Cheetahs are endangered. It is only a matter of time before the domestic cats become endangered species.  Dear readers, I present to you EXTINCTION!!!

A topic that is never talked about. Has it ever occurred to you that animals are in danger every single day? Imagine this for a moment, the carved Ivory from Elephants has been used for decorative purposes since the time of the Ancient Egyptians. Small pieces of ivory are used for high- quality furniture in lays, chess and small jewelry. Larger pieces of ivory sometimes have been used in the manufacture of billiard balls, piano keys and toilet articles.

Lion fat is used to treat back and joint pain, lion skin and lungs are used to treat whopping cough: lion veins used to treat erectile dysfunction; lion noses used to treat stomach problems; lion livers used to treat headaches.

To meet the demand for lion parts, the supply originates from across the borders of Cameroon and Niger providing the snapshot of the international Trade Dimension.

Nigeria currently has a very small number of remaining lion population, estimated about 32 animals. But lion fat demand is also prevalent in a diversity of other places.

In South Africa, the Xhosa use lion fat as protective medicine against evil spirits.

I Southern Africa the Bushmen use lion fat spread on their body to allow them to detect if a lion is near while walking in the bush. The Herero tribe in Namibia and Botswana also use lion fat.

In Zimbabwe, lion fat is used to exorcise Evil spirits

In Kenya the Samburu tribe apparently use lion fat to keep away creditors as scent of the fat evokes an aura of fear.

In Tanzania, the Gogo tribe in the Dodoma region use living lion to give themselves courage.

In Senegal, lion fat is sold in traditional medicine market hut that; the purpose was not disclosed.

About 251 million years ago, the most catastrophic event occurred where 96% of species disappeared. Scientist think an asteroid hit the earth at this time and climate change had its part to plat. Another major extinction is happening and this time no asteroid is involved. The cause of the mass extinction is us.

The dodo bird was hunted down only 80 years after it has been discovered, the quagga was a half stripped zebra and was hunted in the 1800 hundreds. Imagine such a beautiful creature was hunted down and killed and the young generation never got the chance to see this creature including me.

This is a serious problem that needs to stop or at least be reduced. We can help and try to reduce it. For example saying no to that ivory is a good start.
