Dr. Mairo Mandara

An Obstetrician/Gynecologist with extensive knowledge and experience in strategic planning and implementation of health and social transformation initiatives in Reproductive and maternal-child health. Possesses strong experience and expertise in Family Planning at National and Community levels. Has extensive knowledge and experience in health systems strengthening.

Has developed strong links and connections that make her suited to coordinate successful high-level policy advocacy initiatives and maintain relations with national and subnational government as well as traditional and religious leaders across Africa. Has vast experience in high-level work with numerous government agencies including the Presidency and various ministries and offices in Nigeria, both private and public-sector donor agencies, social and traditional media, as well as traditional institutions, religious groups, women groups and a broad range of civil society organizations.

Mairo was appointed in Oct 2017 to serve a three-year term on the UN Secretary General’s Advisory Group on Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) and is currently a Senior Fellow with the Children’s Investments Foundation UK supporting the foundations work in Africa. Mairo is a regular guest speaker in post-graduate seminars in global health in various institutions across the world.

Mairo is a member of the Governing Council of Nile University Abuja, and the Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Nigeria and serves on the Advisory Council of Ondo State University of Medical Sciences.
